LP: Indeed, I’m ecstatic! Although I’ve performed in DC previously, The Anthem is a new location for me. It sounds amazing, and I can’t wait to do a performance there.

What might fans anticipate from your set, WTOP?

LP: I’ll be performing a selection of new songs from my upcoming album in addition to all of my hits. In addition, I’ll be performing some of my favorite songs as covers. My goal is for everyone to enjoy themselves and come away from the concert feeling motivated and encouraged.

WTOP: Your catchy pop tunes and strong vocals are well-known. What gives you ideas for songs?

LP: Both my own and other people’s experiences serve as inspiration for my music. My goal as a songwriter is to create music that touches listeners’ emotions. I want my music to seem as though it is personally addressing the listener.

LP: I believe that it’s critical for young people to see representation of LGBTQ+ persons in the arts and media. It’s crucial to realize that you’re not alone as it may be really alienating to feel like you’re the only one. Additionally, I believe it’s critical to speak out against injustice and prejudice. Regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation, everyone needs to feel comfortable and welcomed in the world that we need to build.

WTOP: What guidance would you offer to young people who are experiencing isolation or who are finding it difficult to come out?

LP: My recommendation would be to locate a group of encouraging individuals. There are a ton of LGBTQ+ groups and organizations available. You can connect with others going through similar experiences by joining online groups.

It’s also critical to keep in mind that you are not by yourself. Millions of people adore and accept you exactly as you are. Stay true to who you are without fear.
