One of the most thrilling days of the NFL season is the trade deadline. It’s an opportunity for teams to start rebuilding for the future or to make one more effort to bolster their squad in preparation for the playoffs.

The trade cutoff time for this year is Tuesday, October 31 at 4 p.m. ET. Before the deadline, there have already been a few noteworthy deals, but we anticipate considerably more activity on the last day.

Current NFL trade deadline speculation

 

  • Leonard Williams trade: The Seahawks traded defensive tackle Leonard Williams to the Giants in exchange for a 2024 second-round selection and a 2025 fifth-round selection. Williams, a two-time Pro Bowler, will strengthen the defensive line for the Seahawks.
  • Kentavious Street trade: In exchange for a 2024 sixth-round choice, the Falcons acquired defensive lineman Kentavious Street from the Eagles. Street will improve the depth of the Falcons defensive line as a reliable rotational player.
  • Eagles deal for Kevin Byard: Terrell Edmunds, a safety, and two 2024 draft selections were exchanged for safety Kevin Byard by the Titans. One of the top safeties in the NFL, Byard will significantly improve the Eagles’ defense.
  • Dolphins trade for Chase Claypool: In exchange for a third-round pick in 2023, the Dolphins acquired wide receiver Chase Claypool from the Steelers. Big-play receiver Claypool will provide the Dolphins with a another offensive weapon.
  • Randy Gregory trade: In exchange for a late-round pick, the 49ers acquired linebacker Randy Gregory from the Broncos. Gregory, a pass-rusher, will provide the 49ers some additional defensive support.

 

Predictions for the NFL trading deadline

 

  • Jerry Jeudy to the Jets: There have been rumors that the Jets and the Broncos are discussing the wide receiver Jerry Jeudy’s possible acquisition. The Jets would gain a much-needed offensive boost from Jeudy, a gifted receiver.
  • The Rams are allegedly marketing running back Cam Akers to the Raiders. Because Josh Jacobs and Kenyan Drake are injured, the Raiders need a running back.
  • Hockenson T.J. to the Bills: According to reports, the Lions are willing to trade tight end T.J. Hockenson. To replace Dawson Knox, who is out due to a hand injury, the Bills are searching for a tight end.
  • Roquan Smith to the Ravens: Roquan Smith, a linebacker, is allegedly being pursued by the Bears. To replace Patrick Queen, who is sidelined due to a foot ailment, the Ravens are searching for a linebacker.
  • Falcons to Will Anderson Jr.: The Falcons will choose eighth overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. With a club like the Texans hoping to pick Will Anderson Jr., they may trade down.

The NFL trade deadline this year is expected to be quite hectic. Many clubs are trying to push for the playoffs, and there are a lot of excellent players that may be moving.

The biggest beneficiaries of the trade deadline thus far are the Seahawks. They added two-time Pro Bowler Leonard Williams, and they’ll probably challenge for the postseason.

The Dolphins and Eagles both made some noteworthy additions. One of the top safeties in the NFL, Kevin Byard, was acquired by the Eagles, and big-play receiver Chase Claypool by the Dolphins.

It will be interesting to watch what additional deals are made before the deadline, but NFL fans should expect an entertaining day.
